Caribbean for Visitors/All Inclusive Seafood Resort
Expert: John Crandall - 5/30/2008
QuestionMy family and I want to plan an All Inclusive vacation. I am looking for a beach front resort, but the focal point of our decision is the availability of FRESH readily available seafood. We are looking for a destination that includes seafood, anytime…day or night, in the all inclusive price. And, I am not talking about peal & eat shrimp and some mahi mahi…I am talking about Lobster, Crab, and maybe even Conch readily available and included in the package deal. Do you know of any such resort?

AnswerHey Ryan,
This is a tough question to answer. Though I know many wonderful all-inclusive hot spots throughout the Caribbean, many of them do not offer strictly Fresh seafood day & night. Most resorts don't. However, I do know that Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic has several nice resorts that I think you and your family will enjoy. Campo De Campos is my #1 recommendation. I think you will find the price moderate and conducive to your request for Fresh seafood. Though many resorts do not offer seafood day & night you may be able to order it at dinner more frequently. If this is not to your liking then may I suggest any of the Barcelo Bavaro resorts or the Occidental Flamenco, also in Punta Cana. They all offer All-inclusive rates and I think this will satisfy your need for fresh seafood during your stay. Each of the resorts offer several restaurants included in the all-inclusive price. Also, a short ride from the resort area is a restaurant called Captain Cooks. The Southern Lobster is absolutely to die for and the tails wrap around your arm several times. The restaurant is a short cab ride away from most of the resorts. If you want to go more upscale, then I would recommend the Paradisius in Punta Cana as well. Now, if Punta Cana is not for you, there are other islands throughout the Caribbean I could recommend as well. Aruba has several all-inclusive resorts offering seafood and other Caribbean and continental cuisine. However, Aruba is especially known for the restaurants outside the resorts like the Argentina Steak House, Fago, and Gauchos, all offering seafood as well. I know you are searching for all-inclusive resorts offering fresh seafood, but you have to remember that with an all-inclusive comes less of a choice for what you want. I hope I've been helpful.

John
