Caribbean for Visitors/Carribaen weather

Question
Hello John,

My wife and I are considering traveling to the Carribean -- more specifically,
Turks and Caicos, St. Barts, St. Lucia -- in September. What sort of weather
can we expect? Is this the rainy season and, if so, does that translate to day-
long rain and no sun, or just intermittent showers with mostly sun? Thanks
for your help.

Evan

Answer
Hi Evan,

Hurricane season in the Caribbean is June - November. It doesn't mean you won't have good weather. Cruise lines may alter their itineraries if there is a chance a tropical squall is in a particular area. Most of the tropical depressions travel North West from the South Eastern part of the Caribbean. Rain is usually intermittent however, storms can develop more likely during hurricane season. You just can't predict the weather during hurricane season. Right now there is a hurricane off the coast of Key West, Fl. There may not be another depression for weeks, but its hit or miss. I suggest that you monitor the weather in the area of your sailing. You can get a detailed/extended forecast at www.weatherchannel.com. Best of luck.

BonVoyage,

John
