Question
we are going to the Dominican Republic, in Bavaro on the 25/8 for 7 days. we have been told that there is a hurricane called  Fay and that all the tourists are coming back. do you think it will be safe to go there for holidays?
thank you in advance.

Answer
Hey Kon,

Like anywhere in the Caribbean, the weather this time a year is very unpredictable. It is hurricane season until November. Fay has already made landfall off the Florida Keys but I don't know how much damage she caused. These tropical squalls pop up in different regions in the Caribbean and usually move from south east to north west, unless of course it takes a northerly turn up the Atlantic Coast of the United States. I would also consult the Dominican Republic Board of Tourism. Here is the web site:

www.godominicanrepublic.com

There you should find the weather for your week of travel. If you have purchased trip insurance talk to the agency you booked through.
