Caribbean for Visitors/When to travel?!

Question
It seems that we are hesistant about when to take a cruise around the bahamas: Early/Mid December or End of February/Early March? We've checked all the websites regarding weather, checked all the question & answer websites, have asked around, and so much more...
We want to get away from the harsh winter weather of MI, and we thought February might be colder than December, since it usually is that way, but we want to understand what the weather will be like down in Nassau.
Oui vey, some guidance can be helpful and any hints would be great too. We've gotten a couple of true witnesses for the given times we'd like to visit, I guess we just need to hear one or two more.

Answer
Hi "E"

To tell you the truth, I usually head to the Caribbean in January (cruising from Fort Lauderdale to the Western Caribbean January 10 - 17, 2009 on the Ruby Princess) and again in May. The weather is similar between December - May. Its peak season to travel to the Caribbean with temperatures averaging 80 degrees (hotter in April, May & June). This is not your typical 80 degrees that you and I are familiar with. 80 in the Caribbean is much hotter than 80 degrees in the states. Hurricane season in the Caribbean is Late June - Early November. I always cruise from January - April. During these months, I never experienced inclement weather. I will be embarking on my 18th cruise on January 10, 2009 and I can't wait. I really enjoy the weather in Nassau/Paradise Island from January - May as well. Trust me...I would travel to Nassau in February in lieu of December. Hope this clarifies your apprehension. Have  great time and make sure you have a "Bahama Mama" when you arrive in Nassau, Bahamas.
