Caribbean for Visitors - Travelling alone

Question
Hi,
I am a 27 year old man who wants to travel to the Caribbean in January. I have travelled alone in Europe and in the Middle East but I have always had the impression that the Caribbean was more of a family/couples location. However, I have always wanted to go and am unsure of which island/hotel to go to. Do you have any suggestions?

Answer
Hey Francis, how are you? Just wanted you to know I just got back into town and read your email last night. Well buddy, traveling alone does have it's advantages though its always less expensive to travel with another person. Most rates for hotels and resorts are based on double occupancy, however you can take advantage of special promotions from time to time. January is peak time to travel to the Caribbean. (December - April# Rates will be higher as a result. There are many variables to consider when traveling alone but I do have a few suggestions. Below is a list of island resorts for you to review before making your decision.

Dominican Republic #Punta Cana# Occidental #All-Inclusive)Many singles go here and I never heard any negative feedback about it.

Cancun (Oasis Cancun# A very hot spot for college spring breakers in March and April. However, I think you will find plenty of singles here as well.

Cancun #Cancun Palace# mostly an older crowd, some families and couples, but many singles as well. A little pricey but well worth it. Cancun offers great activities downtown near the convention center also. #Clubs, bars, etc) Very popular!!

Francis, you should not limit your choices to just an island resort. Many singles also go the cruise route. Many Mother/Daughter Combos and many single men and women cruise as well. Yes there are many families and couples that cruise but I think you would find a cruise especially geared towards your personality. There are singles cruises from different ports  in the Caribbean and Florida. Let me know how you make out when you decide. Hope I was helpful. Best of luck to you. I provided you with a couple suggestions but your overall experience depends on you and how you approach your vacation.

John
