Caribbean for Visitors/relocating to Belize

QuestionMy wife and i are looking to move to Belize or another Caribbean destination. We are just starting our search of possible places. We want to buy and run a hotel, ideally on the beach. We are both from the UK and don't know how easy it is for us to move to the Caribbean with Visa's and buying property??
AnswerHow are you Paul? Since relocating is a huge move in itself I would consider another destination. Central America (Belize) is hurricane alley. Relocating is a life decision as well as an investment. My only advice to you would be to weigh all your options and do your statistical homework concerning the hurricane outlook. That area of the Caribbean is a viable one for tropical storms during hurricane season. Since I've been there several times I can tell you it is not an economically sound Country. However, I'm sure prior to relocating you will have already consulted people who will have a significant impact on your decision. I wish you the best of luck with your endeavor, whatever you choose to do. Let me know how you make out. My wife and I will come and visit if and when you get settled. Oh, and if you need someone to insure the security of your investment and one who is very well versed in security management, I would be more than accommodating in assisting you. I've been a law enforcement supervisor for more than 20 years and I know what it takes to have security. I retire in 5 years and relocating to the Caribbean has always been my intentions. Take care and God Bless!
