Carnival/West U.S. to Italy on repositioning cruise

Question
Well...I never thought it would happen..but I am officially overwhelmed! I have been on the computer for hours. All I want is to find the least expensive repositioning cruise that leaves from somewhere close to California and will get us close to Italy. I've never been on a cruise before but have a HUGE fear of flying and have wanted to cruise anyway. We are going to be staying in Italy for an unspecified amount of time..so going on a cruise ONE WAY fits our schedule just perfectly!  Our schedule is pretty open so whenever they do the repostioning in the spring we could go. We just would appreciate getting THE very lowest. We've traveled cross country in an RV so we're use to not having a ton of space where we sleep..as long as we can walk around a ship..we're good I'm sure!

Also, is it better if we wait until as close to last minute as we can in order to wait for them to drop the prices even lower due to having more rooms available than they thought they would?

Thank you so much for your reply!

Answer
And you may have some difficulty locating a repositioning cruise that ends in Italy from California as I have not yet seen one...They primarily will start in Florida and in the springtime.Princess, HAL and NCL usually will offer this type of cruise vacation package.

As for waiting till the last minute, that is a mixed bag now since many cruiselines will allow you to adjust rates AFTER final payment and provide refunds either to your c.card or shipboard credits (depending on cruiseline).

Best of luck in your cruise adventure planning.
