Answer
need more info...none of the ships depart at 12:45, they all depart between 4 PM and 6 PM...please reread your docs, there may be a new cruise I haven't heard of which is why I'm asking for more info.  Ususally 12:45 is the earliest you can board the ship, not when its leaving.

For a family of 4, taking the taxi is your best bet, IF all of your luggage will fit into the trunk of a car....if not, you need to contact your travel agent or Carnival and book one of their transportation packages to the ship.  There are MANY people that take the cab from the airport to the dock, cost the last time I checked was about $30.  As I tell others, always call ahead of time (even now) and ask what the fare is and when you get in the cab, you reinterate "I called and the fare is ____, is that correct?" 99 % of our drivers are honest, but there is always that 1%.  Remember....pack light and if you can't get it in YOUR trunk, it won't fit in the trunk of a cab.

Enjoy your vacation.
