Question
We are going on our first cruise this Sunday, July 13, 2008.  I am wondering about the weather and seas.  We are leaving out of Miami and going to Nassau, Saint Thomas and Saint Martin.
Very excited.  Just wondering how it's looking with "bertha" and all.
Thank you,
Vicki

Answer
Hi Vicki,

NOT to worry, you'll be fine for Bertha; she's heading north toward Bermuda, she won't affect your cruise. It's nice and hot, so make sure you bring your coppertone 70!  The islands are hot at this time of the year and are in the high 80's to 90's, Seas will depend on the wind, but your Captain will steer you as much as he can to calm seas.

you're going to have such a great time!  I still remember our first cruise, MANY years ago!  Some quick things you may or may not have thought of.  Bring a sweater...inside ship and lounges can get COLD especially if you have a bit of a sunburn.  Bring one of those insta lights that you put on the wall if you have an inside room.  Honestly, you only need ONE outfit for the day and ONE for night at the most!  Plus your bathing suit, cover up, flip flops, sweater and personal things.  DO remember, you can order what you want for meals, if you don't like it, ask for something else, if you like it a lot....ask for more.  The crew works very hard for very little money, they want to make you happy, just give them a chance.

DO talk to people when you see them.  We're all so shy wondering what people will think of us...you're not going to see these people again...have FUN.  You'll see as the cruise goes on, people get more friendly...I'm just telling you to get a head start and have fun.  Go to the back of the ship for most of Carnivals newer ships, the pool back there is not as crowded as the "main" pool.

HAVE FUN
