Carnival/Noise Outside the Cabin
Expert: Curtis Thorsen - 11/11/2009
QuestionHi Curtis,
Room #: 7345
Location: Empress Deck, Inside, Mid, Starboard
I'm considering booking the above cabin on the Carnival Liberty, and according the deck map, the cabin is near the stairs and the elevator. Do you know, or have you heard, whether or not occupants of this cabin would be disturbed by noise from people going up and down the stairs and/or noise from the mechanical workings of the elevator?
Thank you.

AnswerHi there.... what a great ship you have selected to sail on. I have sailed on this particuliar ship on a couple occassions along with her sister ships theGlory and the Valor.
I have not personally stayed in an inside stateroom on this ship, and despite your location being a good choice regarding less potential motion distress occuring, there is a possibility of hearing noises from the steps IF there are alot of unruly passengers i.e. young children allowed to run up and down halls and stairwells. I would not be concerned of the mechanical issues of the elevators though.
I would not say this is a bad location at all really, because any stateroom on a ship is subject to noises from the surrounding environment, but some have a higher chance than others of the noise being a possible disruption. Just keep in mind that if you have issues regarding passenger noise from unruly passengers that a quick call to security usually will fix that problem or a visit to the pursers desk to discuss and document your problems may be necessary. Usually if there are other staterooms available, they will make every effort to accommodate your request if necessary.
Bottom line answer to your question.... If possible, I would try to have my stateroom moved a little more forward to reduce that % of possible noises you are concerned in experiencing.
