Carnival/cruise to Canada
Expert: Curtis Thorsen - 5/6/2009
QuestionQUESTION: Hello, I'm looking at a Carnival Triumph cruise to Sain John and Halifax Canada leaving out of NY (June sometime). I have another option on another cruiseline to more Canada cities. (Halifax, Sydney, Charlottetown, Quebec City. My question is whether or not it is worth the extra time/money to see all of the cities listed above or could I get the "feel" of Canada just seeing Saint John and Halifax? I've never been so it is hard to compare these two cruises.
Many thanks.
ANSWER: Before I could really say what I would SUGGEST, I would need to know what other cruiseline/ship you are speaking of.
Many guests on a cruise ship not only decide on their cruise based on it's itinerary, but also the overall cruise ship experience.
Also, the cruiseline(s) you are considering should be weighed out for their differences i.e. age of passengers, quality of food, service, entertainment, accommodations, and length of cruise comparisons, etc.....
While one cruiseline may be good for one person, it may or may not fit anothers needs or requirements.
Sorry I could not help more, but your question is more complex than you may think, to offer an honest suggestion to you.
Best of luck to you in your decision making.

QUESTION: I have cruised many times and agree with you on what makes a good experience. I've cruised on both of these lines previously on numerous occasions. The other line would be Holland America. Thanks. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated on the Canada cities. Many thanks.
AnswerWow.... a frequent cruiser.....and sailed on both lines....Hmmmmmm
This is a tuff one, because I personally would be sailing HAL simply because I love the cruise experience aboard their ships. But Canada New England cruises are not the caribbean sailings so a Carnival cruise may not be that bad either, given that the crowds will be less rowdy based on the itinerary.
Looking at the Triumph and it being a 5 night cruise.....Looking at the overall cruise value on Carnival right now......and to get a relatively inexpensive taste of Canada, I think Carnival will win on this one.
If Canada and it's beauty appeals to you after that short cruise, then you will be better prepared for a longer sailing visiting the other ports of call some cruiselines call on during the longer cruises.
Either way you go, I hope your cruise is a wonderful experience for you and your companion !
Happy Spring/Summer.....
