Carnival/Carnival cabin price drops before sailing = credit?
Expert: Curtis Thorsen - 8/25/2009
QuestionWe paid $704pp for Cat 4G and they are selling it for $514pp, that's a significant price drop of $380/couple. In the spirit of customer satisfaction, Carnival should settle the price difference with an on board credit and they said no, they do not reprice. I'm not asking for my money back, I asked for a shipboard credit or voucher for future travel or "Fun Dollars", since they already have my money, I don't see the difference as it will be spent on board. Comp us at the casino or spa. I think there is alot that they could do and yet a supervisor in Customer Service was not willing.
What are your thoughts on this?
Thank you,
Kelly
AnswerHi Kelly.... well as much as you feel that Carnival should provide to you an OBC for the price difference, this was done in the past when fare differences popped up, but as of Dec. 2008, they have ceased doing so. After that decision, there was a new booking promo called "Early Saver" that despite coming in with cancellation stipulations costs, allowed for OBC to be provided if the rates dropped up to 2 days before sailing. That being said, and if you did not book under the "Early Saver" promo (which I am assuming you did not do), if you have found a higher category stateroom available at the same price you are currently paying, your Travel Agent or whoever you booked with USUALLY will be able to get you the upgrade at no additional fee's.
Despite your dissatisfaction with the scenario here, it is the best option to consider. Good Luck and I hope my suggestions will provide an outcome you are satisfied with.
Have a GREAT cruise !
