Please help!!!! My cruise is scheduled for June 24,2011 returning June 27. Due to flight prices I will be flying into Fort Lauderdale on June 23rd and departing out of Fort Lauderdale on June 28. I need to rent a car to get from FTL to Miami,and from Miami back to FTL. The lowest one way rental rate I found was $70 to Miami BUT to rent from Miami back to FTL was $60 plus  a fee of $100 because I was leaving it in Miami.Unfortunately I do not have major credit card, but i do have a bank card with the VISA logo. I do not mind at all the hold that they will place on my card.

Penny, OK, you said you're coming in on the 23 and your cruise is the 30th, so it tells me you're staying in a hotel the night before?  I ask because many will pick you up at the airport and take you to the hotel, then all you'd need to do is take a shuttle from your hotel to the port.  Same way for your return flight since you're staying the extra day as well.

give me more info on where you are staying etc and I'll tell you ess expensive ways then renting a car.  Sometimes car rentals can be a rip off!
