Carnival - Cruse Fees

Expert: Colleen Robinson - 3/23/2005

Question
My wife and I have been offered a "Free" Cruse through Infinity Incentive Group on the Carnival Cruse Lines.  This came about because we attended  a Vacation seminar for a travel agency.  The requirement is that we pay an upfront fee of $299 each that will be applied toward taxes, port fees, government surcharges for a 1A cabin, and other applicable fees.

Is this a come on or is it valid?

Answer
Hi Don,

I can't honestly answer whether or not this is valid, you would have to look at the details of the offer to see what you are required to pay. Port charges and government fees can begin anywhere from $120.00 on up, depending on the length and destination of the cruise. A Category 1A cabin is the least expensive interior cabin with bunk beds. If this is for a 3-night cruise, the $299. would be most of the cost of the cruise for a Category 1A, so I'm not sure how much of it is actually free. If the cruise is 7 days, then they may be offering you one free berth (one person, based on double occupancy).
My advice would be to find out exactly what you are getting (length of cruise, destination) and then price it out with a travel agent and see what it would cost you to purchase the cruise. Hope this helps.
