Carnival/Luggage at the pier

Question
When I arrive to the pier with my family, there are people who takes our luggage to our rooms for us. Is there anyway we can bring our own things aboard the cruise ship. We do not trust other people with our belongings?

Answer
It can be done, but not pleasant in that there is a LONG way from the reception area where you check in until you get on the ship.  Plus everyone using the elevators, hard to get on with baggage.  It's your choice, but we've done 24 cruises with no problem. Honestly, we've never heard of anyone having a problem of any type.

I take my carry on which has my camera and $, passport etc.  What's in the suitcase is just clothes, shoes etc.  Your bags will still need to be x rayed, even if you carry them on; as is every piece of luggage including your purse, it is scanned and can be searched.
