Question
We are looking at a cruise in May 08.  What are the different transportation modes and cost from airport(Miami) to cruise ship and return

Answer
You can book a shuttle with Carnival that will take you from the airport to the docks.  The charge is usually $10-15.  If you book your airfare thru them, this charge is usually included.
The Pros...they'll make sure you get to the airport on time, will have your baggage all set to go for you, no hassle when you get off the cruise, get your bags, take them to the bus, get on, go to airport.

The cons...you may be one of the earlier flights and may need to wait at the airport for 45-60 minutes waiting for other cruisers going on the same bus; there will be 50-60 of you all going into the line at the same time at the terminal.

You can go to www.miami-airport.com.  They offer taxis for $24 one way, for 1-4 people, this is per CAB, not per person.
Cons, you need to schlep your luggage outside to get the cab, the driver may not speak really good English (who cares though...they all see the tags for the cruiseship)
Depending on how many of you head outside at the same time, you may need to wait 5-10 minutes for the people ahead of you in line.

Pros, it's less expensive; you can get in the cab and go, no one else to wait on.  When you debark, there are PLENTY of cabs, there won't be a problem.

It's only about 15 min from the aiport to the dock.  Ask away if you have more questions.  Have a great cruise Pete.
