Carnival/What to do in Nassau

Question
We are cruising September and this will be our 3rd time to Nassau.  We are tired of walking around.  We will have 5 children ages 9-13 we need something fun and exciting to do. :-)  Please give me your advice.

Answer
My first thought is to let the children enjoy the camp or childrens program on the ship and you relax in the hot tub onboard with a glass of wine and spend some "me" time.

For some fun things, making the trip over to Paradise Island is a consideration..I don't know the current charge, but they've got a HUGE underground aquarium that you can see the fish, sharks, rays swimming all above you and to the right and left of you.  Being up close is fun and good for that age group. You can catch a cab right off the boat for the trip over there.

The largest of the three forts still on the island, Fort Charlotte was built by Lord Dunmore in 1789 to guard the western entrance to the harbor. Today, it offers a waterless moat, ramparts, canons, underground passages to dungeon rooms, and spectacular views of Paradise Island, the harbor and much of Nassau. Happily, the fort never fired a shot in battle. Costumed and trained tour guides, working for tips, are available to enrich your visit with tales of the history of the area.

Adelaide Village, Bahamas

Adelaide Beach is not on most tourists' radar, which is either a bonus or a drawback, depending on your point of view. On the south side of New Providence Island, the beach here is long and virtually empty during the week. On weekends it's popular with local residents. If you like the beaches.

Depending on how long your cruise is, you might just want to stay on the ship and enjoy having the pool to yourselves with the kids; watch a movie in the theatre on the ship and have lots more room to yourselves.

Nassau for kids really does not have all that much to do that would keep all 5 kids happy.  Girls like to get the braids (heaven knows why)  Boys might get a kick out of boy stuff at the straw market (but it's not the same since the fire).  The walking tour is for adults, kids would be bored.

I'm really sorry Laura that I couldn't be more help and offer more things for your group to do.  No matter what you decide; you're away from home, some of the stress, the skies are blue, and you love your kids....life is good :)
