Question
We are stopping on a Carnival Cruise in the port of Progresso.  Is there something to do right off the pier, we don't want to spend a lot of money on any tours but don't want to be stuck on the boat all day.

Answer
There will be limited shopping  but you could also hire a taxi at a negotiated rate to take you on a personal tour (perhaps of the Mayan Ruins) for less $$$ than thru the cruiseline. Or rent a jeep on your own and do a self guided island tour is always an adventure !
