I'll be coming off of a cruise on the triumph 8-15-08 into Miami. How early can I get off the ship, and what would the cost of a taxi be for 2 people from Miami to  ft. Lauderdale.

The time you depart the ship will depend on when you have your flight.  If you booked with Carnival; the trip from Miami to Ft.Laud is included.  If you booked on your own, then you can catch a cab for about $40 to Ft.Laud Airport.  there are limo services (ck yellow pages as I know some companies go out of business) for around $55-$60.

do NOT book your flight too early; the ship must clear customs first before anyone can debark. I wouldn't do before noon.  If you're booking yourself; make sure you go to the purser's office the second or third day and let them know your flight time so you'll receive the appropriate colored debarkation tickets.
