Question Is the N. Rafflesiana I bought from Sarracenia Northwest a clone? What is a plant clone?
Answer Hi Travis,
Yes, the plant is a clone, which means that all plants from that batch are genetically identical to each other. Stem cuttings, root cuttings, leaf cuttings and divisions are propagation techniques that also produce genetically identical plants. However, cloning is a specific technique that's done in sterile laboratory conditions. The advantage of doing it in a laboratory is that you can produce literally hundreds of plants in a relatively short period of time.
Good growing!
