Question
Hello,
I have a question about a drosera prolifera that I got from you guys. It has stated to grow a flower stalk. I know that this plant reproduces by growing new plants on the flower stalk if it touches the soil. I heard that you can cut the flower stalk into segments and place it on the soil and new plants will grow? Also, how long will the flower stalk get? If it never touches soil will it just keep growing, and then I could segment the stem and get multiple plants?
Answer Hi Joe,
Yes, this plant will propagate itself from the flower stalks. Plantlets will sprout up when the stalk touches moist soil or water. The flower stalk will typically grow up to a foot long, and it's very easy to cut it up into smaller segments to get multiple plants.
In our upcoming DVD, Grow Carnivorous Plants Volume 2, we show you how to do this very process. It'll be available by December 1.
Good growing!
