Instead, we help growers by diagnosing a specific plant problem and offering solutions (i.e. Why is my sundew not producing dew?; Is now a good time to divide my Sarracenia?; Why are the traps turning black?; What's a good substitute for perlite?; Why didn't my seeds germinate?; Can you identify this carnivorous plant for me?)
Question Hi i just saw aphids on my carnivore collection and there making alot of
damage to this plant I just need to know what pesticide is good for this
plants. and i also need to know that im going on a vacation for about 2 weeks
and i want to know how long carnivore plant can survive wihtout water? P.S If
they cant survive with enought water i just ask my friend to take care for
them or buy a water storage tank thing.
Answer Hi Aaron,
Use a Neem or Pyrethrins based product. Just follow the label directions. You may need to repeat an application at the recommend rate. Systemic insecticides are more effective, but the one we have used for years (acephate or Orthene) is being discontinued. We haven't had a chance to test imacloprid products for safety on cp.
During hot summer weather two weeks is too long. Unless you have the plants in very large containers they will dry out. You will need to have someone water, or set up an automatic system.
