Question QUESTION: whan I have my nepenthes outside in some shade the lid shuts is it getting to much light or is it just adapting. also can you i.d. my plant. IMAGE: nepenthes
ANSWER: Hi Kyle,
Thanks for sending the picture. This always helps.
It's a little hard to tell, but I would say your plant is a Nepenthes sanguinea. Based on the color of the pitchers, it may not be getting enough light. Overall though, it looks pretty good. If could use some repotting, however. I can see the soil is very low in the pot. For more information on growing Nepenthes visit: http://www.cobraplant.com/caresheets
QUESTION: I repoted it and raised the stem up this is a new plant I just got. will all the old pitchers fall off? thanks
Answer Ki Kyle,
They might, but just give your plant time. They take a little while to adjust after repotting. Make sure it's getting plenty of light, and you're keeping the soil moist.
