Question
After watching your video clip about insecticides for carnivorous plants, I
checked the labels of some products that I had around the house. One was a
neem spray. However, I noticed that in addition to neem oil, it also contained
pyrethrins (0.02%), which I know are OK, and piperonyl butoxide (0.20%).
Another brand of insect spray had the same components in the same
concentrations except without the neem oil. Are these acceptable for use
(i.e., is piperonyl butoxide safe)?
Absolutely! Yes, they're safe to use. The only insecticide that we found not safe is the soap-based ones. There may be other unsafe ones, but as long as they're free of minerals and fatty acids (soaps and detergents), the insecticide is considered safe for carnivorous plants.
