Question

Pitcher plant
Hi what kind of pitcher plant is this i bought it at Lowe's yesterday it looks like it is growing pure sphagnum moss and i have already acclimated it to lower humidity and it is sitting in an inch or two in distilled water and i plan to repot it in a soil mix of one parts peat moss and one parts perlite if that would be ok to do at this time and i plan to grow it outside but before that acclimate it to higher light conditions like up to 10+ hours of direct sunlight in the summer. and the most important WHAT KIND OF PLANT IS THIS? all i just mentioned would all that be ok to do?

Answer
Hi Ean,

Since this plant has been in very low light it is difficult to be sure.  However, since it was mass marketed through chain stores, and looking at the largest leaf, it looks like a Judith Hindle.  You'll be able to tell this spring once it is growing and getting full sun.  Your current care is fine.  Once new growth begins in the spring, just cut off all of those old leaves.  They will be of little benefit to the plant.

Good Growing!
