Question

Nepenthes Glabrata Sam
Hi! I recently purchased a Nepenthes Glabrata about a month ago and it hasn't been doing so well. I am watering it distilled water and is sitting in a west windowsill. I moved the pot into a fishbowl terrarium for more humidity . I believe it has its climbing stem that is purple. One of the pitchers turned black and the other ones tendril is turning brown. The leaf at the top is not unfolding. The plant is very small and I am not sure What to do. The plant looks the same as when I got it if not worse. Can you please help me?

Answer
Hi Sam,

No pitchers this time of year is due to short days.  Lack of light, possibly combined with low temperatures, not humidity, is your biggest problem.  Boosting the daylight hours with artificial light can help.  Also if the window where the plant is at is cold, try moving it back some so the temperatures are more stable.  Your plant looks fine otherwise.  Pitcher production usually starts to resume after the equinox in March when the days are longer than the nights.

PLEASE READ BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR QUESTION:
We no longer answer how-to questions (i.e. How do I propagate...?; How do I grow...?).

Instead, we help growers by diagnosing a specific plant problem and offering solutions (i.e. Why is my sundew not producing dew?; Is now a good time to divide my Sarracenia?; Why are the traps turning black?; What's a good substitute for perlite?; Why didn't my seeds germinate?; Can you identify this carnivorous plant for me?)
