Question
I just rescued a D. spathulata from my local nursery. It was in a humidity dome, but the instructions weren't as horrible as most others. It actually recommended full sun and distilled water! I transplanted it into a 4 inch pot when I got home, and set it in a raised humidity environment that gets 3 hours of morning sun, and 4,000 lumens of t5 HO lighting 8 inches above the plant.

My concern is over whether It is a tropical variety, or a temperate variety. How can I find out?

Hi Connor,
The vast majority of D. spatulata in cultivation is the tropical variety. In fact, there is only one lab in the United States that produces clones of D. spatulata. So unless your plant came from a specialty nursery, you could just assume that your plant originated from this lab and that your plant is tropical.
