Question

Pygmy Drosera
I just purchased your e-book and now I am trying to dismantle my terrarium and move them to the best locations for them.  I have several plants I do not know the exact name and where it is from so it makes it difficult.  I have had all my plants for 1 1/2 years in the terrarium and most of them did very good but few of them did not like my venus fly traps which I already moved to there own pots and outside.  I live outside of Philadelphia PA, I think it is Zone 6.  The first plant I think is a Drosera ssp, not sure of the complete name but I think it is a Pygmy any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Rick

Answer
Hi Rick,

Yes, your sundew is a pygmy sundew.  I can't identify the exact species or hybrid, but it definitely belongs to the family of pygmy sundews.  (To properly identify a pygmy sundew, you'll need a flower too.)

Caring for pygmy sundews is like caring for other tropical sundews, such as Drosera spatulata or Drosera multifida.  I highly recommend also watching Volume 2 of the Grow Carnivorous Plants DVD series.  You'll get to see how we grow them at our nursery and how you can grow them in your home without terrariums.

PLEASE READ BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR QUESTION:
We no longer answer how-to questions (i.e. How do I propagate...?; How do I grow...?).

Instead, we help growers by diagnosing a specific plant problem and offering solutions (i.e. Why is my sundew not producing dew?; Is now a good time to divide my Sarracenia?; Why are the traps turning black?; What's a good substitute for perlite?; Why didn't my seeds germinate?; Can you identify this carnivorous plant for me?)
