Question

cobra plant.
Allexperts,

The question is, the growth that I am seeing is normal for a Cobra plant.  growing on one half of the plant.  Will I ever see growth on the other side of the plant?  I have attached a photo to this question.  How does a cobra plant  grow ? Does it grow Rhizomes like that of the lance leaf sundew?

Sincerely,

Weylin

Answer
Hi Weylin,

Yes, this is normal.  Your plant is still young and it's early in the growing season.  Give your plant time and it will develop a nice symmetrical appearance.  The plant also propagates via runners, so you may see plantlets develop off to the side.  This too is normal.  For information on growing Darlingtonia, watch Volume 1 of the Grow Carnivorous Plants DVD series.

Good growing!
