Question
I got your new dvd volume 3 it had alot of great information thanks, but I had a question about how long do I Leave the light on for stem cuttings I figured it would be 14 hours, but Iam not sure? I have them in the closet using two 40 watt plant and aquarium bulbs about 8 to 12 inches away as suggested in your D.V.D volume 3. It is n.alata in a growing chamber that I purchased from you guys. Thank You for your time.

Answer
Hi Tom,

Definitely keep the lights on for a minimum of 12 hours.  With cuttings, you can keep the lights on a bit longer than if you were just growing a plant.  We don't talk about it in the DVD, but you can keep the lights on 24/7 until you see root formation.  As soon as you do, you can drop the lights to 16 hours for a week, and then 14 hours thereafter until your plant is ready for repotting.  The constant light stimulates the plant to produce roots a bit faster.  Once the roots form, the excess light is unnecessary, so you can decrease the daylight hours.

Good growing!

Instead, we help growers by diagnosing a specific plant problem and offering solutions (i.e. Why is my sundew not producing dew?; Is now a good time to divide my Sarracenia?; Why are the traps turning black?; What's a good substitute for perlite?; Why didn't my seeds germinate?; Can you identify this carnivorous plant for me?)
