Question

weird sundew
Allexperts,

Hey can you help me identify this sundew that I have recently picked up.  Also could tell me if I can grow the plant outside.  I live in Delaware which is a zone 7 climate.   I have also attached a picture of the plant that I need help in identify.

Sincerely,

Weylin

Answer
Hi Weylin,

That looks like a poorly grown Drosera spatulata, the Fraser Island variety.  This plant is a tropical sundew, but you can grow it outdoors in full sun during the warm months.  However, before placing it in direct sunlight, make sure to acclimate it to sunlight.  There will be some leaf burn, but that's normal.  The new growth after that will be acclimated to sunlight.

Good growing!
