Question
Hello, I saw little white larve with black tips on them crawling around in the soil of my Nepenthes Sanguinea. I also have this issue with my Cephalotus that I mentioned before. So I decided to give the two a Systemic Houseplant Insect Control from Bonide and also with all my Nepenthes and Heliamphora to prevent the pests going to the others. It's a fine grainy substance, so I took a spoon, gently spinkled very little on the soil, around every plant, then I watered them.
Was the product good I gave the plants? Do I need to give them anything else?

Hi Agustin,
I've seen this product before, and it contains powdered imidacloprid which is the same substance we spray on plants when they have aphids. If you used it as directed it should be fine. Imidacloprid is a nicotine derivative and seems very safe on plants. Sometimes this product is combined with fertilizer in little capsules; stay away from that because of the fertilizer. I believe your product is just the insecticide, however. It should be very adequate in killing your fungus gnat larvae.
On a side note, the time to ask me a question like this is before you use it on your plants, not after. :)
