Carnivorous Plants/Drosera

Question
Hi again! I was wondering if I can grow my Drosera Capensis alongside my North American pitcher plants and venus flytraps. I also need to know if this peat moss is okay. The bag says: Ingredients- This product is formulated from sphagnum peat moss and fertilizer. <-- I don't like the fertilizer part... Then it says: Total Nitrogen..............0.05%
           0.02% Ammoniacal Nitrogen
           0.03% Nitrate Nitrogen
           Available Phosphate (P20s)...................0.02%
           Soluble Potash......................................0.04%

Derived from ammonium nitrate, ammonium phosphate, calcium phosphate, and potassium
       sulphate.

So i was wondering if these levels are okay for all carnivorous plants. Thank You!

Answer
Hi Kevin,

This sounds like a bag of Miracle-gro peat moss.  Don't use it.  It's enough fertilizer to cause problems, plus they adjust the pH to make it less acid, just what carnivorous plants hate.  It was good of you to check before using this stuff.  I've gotten lots of sad e-mails over the years of people who have used this stuff, only to watch their plants decline.

I'm afraid when buying peat moss you do need to buy a small bale of it.  It's the only way to get peat with no fertilizer.

Good Growing!
