Question

Leaves of my nep. vent
First, I apologize for not adding a picture, but my camera pooped out!
Would you have any idea what would cause the leaves of an aprox.2-2 1/2 yr old Ventricosa, which has flowered, to curl and twist? A friend mentioned a lack of water could cause the curling but I keep my plant damp. Maybe I've over watered it? It's kept on metal shelves in a south facing window, I use distilled water and the soil is equal amounts of spag.peet moss, perlite and vermiculite. It's hot here so we use our swamp cooler (humidity?) Any ideas?

Answer
Hi Marian,

As Nepenthes ventricosa gets larger this appearance isn't abnormal.  Many of our larger plants look like this, and overall you plant looks quite healthy.  Is it pitchering?  How many hours of sun does it get?

Depending on how you're watering it may be a bit on the wet side.  I like to wait until the soil feels a little dry on the top before I add more water, and try to make sure the plant doesn't sit in water for long periods of time.  The mix you are using holds a fair amount of water.

Good Growing!
