Question

My Nepenthes
Howdy!

I got this Nepenthes as a welcome gift this Christmas from my wife. She was trying to order from an ecologically responsible place in Oregon or something, but they (rightly) wouldn't ship the tropical plant to our frigid homeland of Minneapolis, Minnesota. So, she desperately looked for a local Nepenthes retailer without much luck. She did finally find one single Nepenthes at flower shop and bought it, but it had no tag or information. So, we've been wondering...which type of Nepenthes is this? Sanguinea?

Thank you kindly.

Answer
Hi Bryan,

That definitely looks like a Nepenthes x deRoose's alata.  It a hybrid of this lineage:  (N. alata x ventricosa) x N. alata.  It's a common, and very easy to grow plant.  It looks very nice.  I love the picture with the snow in the backgound.

Out of curiosity, was the place in Oregon us?
