Carnivorous Plants/Winter Leaves

Question
Hello

I was just wondering when would you pick the winter leaves off a Pinguicula to produce more Pinguiculas?  If you could possibly provide a specific month of when you do this, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,
Justin

Answer
Hi Justin,

There is no specific month to do it.  Different Ping. species seem to form the dormant rosettes at different times.  You can take pullings anytime.  It's just easiest when the dormant rosettes have formed.  We will take pullings off both large mature and winter leaves.  You just have more to work with when they are dormant.

Good Growing!

We no longer answer how-to questions (i.e. How do I propagate...?; How do I grow...?).

Instead, we help growers by diagnosing a specific plant problem and offering solutions (i.e. Why is my sundew not producing dew?; Is now a good time to divide my Sarracenia?; Why are the traps turning black?; What's a good substitute for perlite?; Why didn't my seeds germinate?; Can you identify this carnivorous plant for me?)
