Carnivorous Plants/heliamphora nutans typical

Question
Hi Jeff,

I've had my heliamphora nutans typical ever since Christmas and it came from petflytrap.com. They sent it in a 3'' pot with a heating pack. The roots were small and the light source is a 120v and 14w fluorescent light. The temperature of the tank is 60-80 in the day and 50-60 at night.

Answer
Hi Connor,

At this point it just sounds like it may not made the transition well, or depending on temperatures and how long it was in the mail, it may have gotten too cold.  Considering how harsh the winter has been, it's hard to tell.  We try out best watching weather and trying to time shipments, but we still have unexpected things happen.  Just from one previous experience, it seems that H. nutans is a bit more sensitive than plants like H. minor or H. heterodoxa.

Connor, send me a photo.  If I can see what your plant looks like, I might have a better idea if your plant is simply going through a transition, or is indeed on it's way out.  It'll give me a better idea if there is anything that can be done.

Good Growing!

We no longer answer how-to questions (i.e. How do I propagate...?; How do I grow...?).

Instead, we help growers by diagnosing a specific plant problem and offering solutions (i.e. Why is my sundew not producing dew?; Is now a good time to divide my Sarracenia?; Why are the traps turning black?; What's a good substitute for perlite?; Why didn't my seeds germinate?; Can you identify this carnivorous plant for me?)
