Carnivorous Plants/something is eating my plants

Question
Something is eating my plants.  I live in east Texas, I have one Cobra nest hybrid and one Sarracenia Sweet Excellens.  They are in the origanil pot that they came in and I have had one of them for 3 months and the other for 2 months.  What ever it is is only eating the top inch off of the plant and I can never catch it.  I look all over and never see any sings of bugs other then the ones the plants are eating.  What should I do?

Answer
The most common thing critters that munch on Sarracenia leaves and leave chew marks are slugs.  You won't see them since they often make their rounds at night and early morning.  By mid morning, they've already sought shelter.

There are many products (slug baits) you can use to control slugs.  Any of them would be appropriate.  If you have pets, use slug baits that say are safe to use around pets.  Since the product contains metals, you will need to keep the bait off of the soil and water.  Use the bait only around the perimeter of your plants.

Good growing!

PLEASE READ BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR QUESTION:
We no longer answer how-to questions (i.e. How do I propagate...?; How do I grow...?).

Instead, we help growers by diagnosing a specific plant problem and offering solutions (i.e. Why is my sundew not producing dew?; Is now a good time to divide my Sarracenia?; Why are the traps turning black?; What's a good substitute for perlite?; Why didn't my seeds germinate?; Can you identify this carnivorous plant for me?)
