Question

Hey guys,  I was wondering if the sulfur base fungicide is safe to use on the ceph and how I should go about applying it?  I grow this plant in a african violet pot in a sunny south window. It seems to have white patches all over (poss mold).  Thank you in advance:)

Answer
Hi Kinjie,

This patchy mold is pretty common on pots of indoor plants, especially as our days get short, and sun is in short supply.  Sulfur based fungicides are perfectly safe on Cephalotus.  I've also used Daconil and Tebuconozole that is in Bayer 3 in 1.  Both are safe on Cephalotus.  Just avoid anything copper based.  Have you watched our fungicide podcast?  Here's a link:  http://www.youtube.com/user/SarraceniaNorthwest#p/u/11/gfVUrMaGjVs

We no longer answer how-to questions (i.e. How do I propagate...?; How do I grow...?).

Instead, we help growers by diagnosing a specific plant problem and offering solutions (i.e. Why is my sundew not producing dew?; Is now a good time to divide my Sarracenia?; Why are the traps turning black?; What's a good substitute for perlite?; Why didn't my seeds germinate?; Can you identify this carnivorous plant for me?)
