Question
You recently gave me some care info on a plant and i just wanted to say thanks!!!! I do have another question for you guys. I have been wanting an albany pitcher plant and was wondering if i would be able to grow on in my room. It would have to go in a south window either rite in the window seal where my nepenthes sanguinea is or behind a light curtin where i grow my phalanopsis orchid. wich spot do you think is the best. I always keep my room fairly warm during the day. But the window seal does cool down at night. i also have a humidifier running in my room 24/7. Its not to humid but good enof to keep my nepenthes happy and healthy. so do you think one would do ok in one of those locations in my room???? thanks

Answer
Hi Robert,

Your windowsill sounds fine.  Put the plant right up in the window.  Don't put it behind the shade curtain.  They like a fair amount of sun.

A technique that is very helpful for Cephalotus is to put the pot that contains the plant into a larger, light-colored, ceramic pot.  This will act as the water tray, and a sun shield for the soil.  Just don't fill the pot with water.  Cephalotus doesn't like being excessively wet.  The humidity should be fine.

Good Growing!

PLEASE READ BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR QUESTION:
We no longer answer how-to questions (i.e. How do I propagate...?; How do I grow...?).

Instead, we help growers by diagnosing a specific plant problem and offering solutions (i.e. Why is my sundew not producing dew?; Is now a good time to divide my Sarracenia?; Why are the traps turning black?; What's a good substitute for perlite?; Why didn't my seeds germinate?; Can you identify this carnivorous plant for me?)
