Question
Hi guys! My name is Eli and I have been a customer of yours for over two years now. I grow my plants in full sun on my porch in Los Angeles and they are doing great.
On to my question. I am planning on repotting everything this coming February and was wondering how sensitive a dormant D. filiformis is to root shock. Should I be careful not to break up too much of the soil around the roots, or is a good rinsing in order?

Hi Eli,
They are not very sensitive at all. I routinely divide crowns of D. filiformis while they are still dormant. They don't tend to have much in the way of roots when they are not growing. I would say, however, since you are in Southern California, consider doing this in late January. Since your season is so much longer than ours your plants may come out of dormancy fairly early. You don't really need to rinse them. I just knock off old soil.
