Question

Sundews growing with f
I recently purchased a dionaea muscipula when I received it to my surprise I observed 7 baby cape sundews growing in the same 3in. pot. I understand that cape sundews produce seed profusely, but I am still a beginner. So my question is will the cape sundews be able to grow well in the same pot or should I transplant them now?

Answer
Hi Tom,

The sundews could be with the Flytrap for awhile, but just because of space you'll want to move them.  Letting them grow some so they are easier to handle is fine.  In addition to the Cape Sundews, I can also see what looks like a D. capillaris.

The other reason you'll want to separate them is that the plants have different growing needs.  Venus flytraps are a zone 8 perennial needing a dormancy period.  The Cape sundew doesn't need a dormancy period being a sub-tropical.

Good Growing!

CommentI appreciate you answering my question in a timely manner and pointing out the D. capillaris I just looked at them again and looked it up and realized only 2 are Cape sundews, I wouldn't of found that out without your help thanks again!
