Question

cobra lily
Allexperts,

I have a question on whether or not this cobra lily made it. Is there a way to tell without looking at the plants roots.   I have attached a photo as well. if there anything else you need please let me know.  I repotted the plant in december the root system look good ( white roots ).

Plant info:
Soil- standard mix, that you said on the website I just add Sphagnum Moss.
location- indoors. Under CFL

Hi Weylin,

The plant looks ok.  Darlingtonia, however, can be very frustrating since you can have perfectly good looking leaves while the roots are dead or dying.  One piece of advice I would give is to not keep it so wet.  Darlingtonia doesn't do as well in cultivation if the soil is waterlogged.  Water it more like a Nepenthes, where you top-water the pot frequently, but only leave a very small amount of water in the tray.  The roots like that oxygenation; similar to the springs they grow in, in the wild.
