Question
Hi does drosophyllum do well in puerto rico? cause I can't decide wether to buy N.truncata or drosophyllum(I've been loking for both plants for a long time).whitch one do you think? By the way my cephalotus is growing like crazy and from the last question it does not get in the 40s in puerto rico it is just that im putting it in my fridge(it's working)the lowest here is low 60s.

Answer
Hi Yulian,

That's a difficult choice to make considering both are fantastic plants.  However, those Drosophyllum are selling fast, and we won't have more until late spring or summer.  N. truncata isn't as difficult to find.

Drosophyllum should do great in Puerto Rico.  Just protect it from prolonged periods of rain, and give it as much sun as possible.  There is no such thing as too much sun for this plant.

I'm going to recommend against putting your Cephalotus in the fridge to induce dormancy.  They do fine without it, and refrigerator dormancy has lots of inherent dangers.  With that, Cephalotus is not a very forgiving plant anyway.

Good Growing!

Instead, we help growers by diagnosing a specific plant problem and offering solutions (i.e. Why is my sundew not producing dew?; Is now a good time to divide my Sarracenia?; Why are the traps turning black?; What's a good substitute for perlite?; Why didn't my seeds germinate?; Can you identify this carnivorous plant for me?)
