Question
Hey Guys! I just wanted to thank you guys for all your help on this website and in your e-book! My plants survived their first harsh New England winter outside and are now coming out of dormancy! I took your advice in your e-book and added horticultural gravel to the top of my VFT and since then I have noticed that all of my VFT are sprouting new growth left and right! I also have a couple of Judith Hindle pitcher plants and was wondering if it was okay to put the gravel on them as well. After reading through your e-book it says that White Top PP react well to the gravel where yellow trumpet PP go into dormancy earlier. Since the Judith Hindle is a hybrid between both does adding gravel stunt Judith hindles or do they benefit?

Yes, this technique works well on flytraps! Given that your climate is similar to ours in Oregon, it would also work well on Judith Hindle. We've tried it out on our plants, and we didn't see it attempt to go dormant early. The white top genes seem to give it more vigor in late summer, so the extra warmth would help this plant along in early spring.
