Hello, I'm asking a question regarding sundews and heavy rain. I have an outdoor bog garden fully exposed to the elements, and today it absolutely poured. It was very heavy rain, the kind that causes flash floods. When I came home I had a chance to check on the bog in between the lightning and saw that the sundews look pretty knocked down. My drosera filiformis's leaves were somewhat flattened, quite different from their vertical position this morning. Some drosera intermedia also looked somewhat knocked down, and I'm wondering if this damage is something I should be concerned about or if the pants will simply bounce back.
This is a normal occurrence, even for plants in the wild. They will rebound, but it may take a while. The most you can do is inspect your garden to make sure the heavy rain didn't erode the soil around the plants. Fill in with fresh soil and upright any plant if you see erosion. After that, it's just a matter of waiting for the plants to perk up again. Give them about 3-4 weeks before your bog looks like what did before.
