Question
Hello guys, I am writing you guys today regarding an issue with the health of my drosera spatulata. I received this plant from you guys about a couple of months ago and it was in great shape but now, the plant is still dewless(even after the few weeks after shipping) and has turned an olive green color. I have it in the "standard soil mix" that you guys sell (I am guessing that is it in as I have not repotted it)and I am watering with distilled water and I have 3 compact florencent lights (they are for my whole grow shelf). I live in the desert of Southern California which is Zone 10-11 I believe and right now we have the AC on 24/7 so I am guessing humity might be an issue. However, my drsera capensis is growing RIGHT next to it and is doing amazing. Do you guys have any idea what's wrong and how I can save this plant? I really would appreciate it!

Hi Brandon,
Whenever you see a plant turning light green, think "More light"! You need to get it closer to the light. Use bricks or something else to help elevate it so it is within 3 inches of the light. If you are using a shelf I'd also recommend using linear fluorescent tubes rather than CFL's. A two tube shoplight with either T-8 or T-12 48" tubes will give you better results, and are more bang for the buck. If you use T-12 tubes, use 40 watt cool-white.
