Question
I live in Seattle, and my two flytraps are both just about to flower. We've had a ridiculously cold and rainy year. Is it too late to think that I might get some viable seeds? Should I just cut the flowers now and hope for better weather next year?

Hi Peter,
Since it looks like we are finally getting some sun here in the Northwest, your Venus flytrap should have plenty of time to make seeds. Flytraps set seed fairly quickly after blooming, so it's not like Sarracenia that take months to set seed. Because of the cold, however, I would manually pollinate the flowers since we haven't had as many insects out and about. Pollination of flytrap flowers is pretty much like any flower.
