I have bought a sarracenia purpurea about 4 mounths ago. The pot was big enough. Now the pot seems tooooo small for the plant. The pitchers at the out side starting to become brown. Do you think that it is time to transplant it in a larger pot???
If yes, could you please tell me what kind of soil do I need?

The plant could definitely be repotted into a larger pot. This will give the roots more room to grow. However, the best time to repot your plant is in early spring when the plant emerges winter dormancy. You can repot the plant now, but make sure to keep the root system intact and undisturbed as much as possible. Use a standard mix of 1 part sphagnum peat moss and 1 part perlite.
The brown spots on the sides of the pitchers are completely unrelated to the pot size. The brown spots occur when insects decompose inside the pitchers. This is completely normal and often unavoidable.
