Hi Yulian,

Darlingtonia should have a dormancy period.  In their native Siskiyou mountain habitats they frequently get snow.  If you live at a higher elevation in Puerto Rico, like in the coffee growing regions, you might be able to grow them like the Sarracenia.  If not, artificial dormancy is a good idea.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.  Do lots of top watering with cool water.  I'd also recommend keeping them under about 30% shadecloth, or slightly dapple sun near trees.  They won't want total shade, however.  In the wild they usually grow in full to part sun.

Good Growing!

Instead, we help growers by diagnosing a specific plant problem and offering solutions (i.e. Why is my sundew not producing dew?; Is now a good time to divide my Sarracenia?; Why are the traps turning black?; What's a good substitute for perlite?; Why didn't my seeds germinate?; Can you identify this carnivorous plant for me?)
